Russian MP Suggests Granting Elon Musk Asylum

A surprising claim about Elon Musk seeking political asylum in Russia has been labelled a «fabrication» by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The rumour emerged after Russian MP and former presidential candidate Vladislav Davankov said during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) that the political party New People had proposed offering asylum to the American billionaire. Davankov argued that Musk’s entrepreneurial skills and visionary thinking could be valuable for Russia.
However, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s official spokesperson Maria Zakharova swiftly dismissed the speculation, stating that no official request from Elon Musk had been received.
The buzz began when several Russian media outlets reported that Musk might be planning a move to Russia, allegedly due to rising tensions with U.S. President Donald Trump and increasing political instability in the West.
Still, Musk himself has made no public statements indicating any intention to leave the United States or seek asylum elsewhere.
The Kremlin has declined to comment on the matter, stating it will wait for an official communication either from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or from Elon Musk directly.
