American strikes on Iran’s underground nuclear facilities have caused limited damage, Reuters reports, citing preliminary US intelligence assessments.
The attack is believed to have set back Iran’s nuclear capabilities by several months. This intelligence assessment contrasts with statements by President Donald Trump, who claimed the strikes had destroyed Iran’s nuclear programme.
Trump’s administration also informed the UN Security Council that the US had weakened Tehran’s nuclear infrastructure.
Earlier, US Vice President J.D. Vance raised concerns about the fate of 400 kg of uranium that Iran may have moved shortly before the strike. The New York Post noted that this material could potentially be used to produce nuclear weapons.
Former US Secretary of State Antony Blinken criticised the strikes as an unwise move by the current administration in Washington, though he expressed hope they inflicted maximum damage on Tehran.
Earlier, Kursiv Uzbekistan reported that uranium prices have been rising amid geopolitical tensions and renewed nuclear ambitions.
