Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said the West will once again fail in its attempts to bring about a strategic defeat of Russia, stressing that the ongoing confrontation is unprecedented in scale.

Speaking during an official visit to Kyrgyzstan, Lavrov said the West was using the Ukrainian government as a «battering ram» in its campaign, but insisted that such efforts were doomed to fail.

«They’ve tried to defeat Russia before — and failed. They won’t succeed now either. Perhaps they are starting to realise this,» Lavrov said during talks with his Kyrgyz counterpart in Cholpon-Ata.

Lavrov underlined the importance of strong ties between Moscow and Bishkek, particularly at a time of heightened geopolitical tensions. He noted that the two countries enjoy close cooperation across all sectors and share a strategic understanding of the current global climate.

Lavrov also expressed appreciation for Kyrgyzstan’s continued respect for the legacy of the Soviet Union during the Second World War.

«The Kyrgyz SSR made a significant contribution to victory in the Great Patriotic War. Russia values this deeply and will continue passing down this memory to future generations,» Lavrov said.

His visit to Kyrgyzstan comes amid broader efforts by Moscow to deepen its ties across Central Asia, as the region becomes increasingly important in Russia’s foreign policy strategy.
