At the opening panel of the Capital Market: New Investment Opportunities conference in Tashkent, experts explored the shifting focus of investors — with Uzbekistan investment emerging as a standout opportunity among emerging markets.

Karen Srapionov, Managing Partner at Avesta Investment Group, opened the session by noting that while the local capital market in Uzbekistan is expanding rapidly, the majority of funding still comes from strategic foreign investors. He stressed the importance of clearly positioning the country for the global investment community.

Mansurjon Rasulev, Director of the Agency for Foreign Investment Attraction, emphasized that foreign investors in Uzbekistan are drawn by the country’s unique advantages:

«Uzbekistan is just beginning to open up — we’re not yet part of the WTO, which gives early movers a rare opportunity to enter a high-potential market. Unlike other emerging markets, Uzbekistan offers untapped access.»

He highlighted the country’s post-pandemic economic resilience and ongoing structural economic reforms — from currency liberalisation to market access improvements — that signal long-term commitment to openness.

«Uzbekistan has demonstrated that it’s not only a predictable market, but also one capable of navigating global shocks. That level of stability is rare in emerging economies,» Rasulev said.

With strategic backing from the government and an agenda aligned with global standards, Uzbekistan’s capital market and broader economy are attracting growing attention from international funds.

As Uzbekistan continues its WTO accession process and pursues its Uzbekistan 2030 goals, the country is fast becoming one of the most promising investment destinations in Central Asia.
