What’s Holding Back Uzbekistan’s Securities Market

At the «Capital Market: New Opportunities for Investment» conference in Tashkent, Karen Srapionov, Managing Partner at Avesta Investment Group, outlined several key obstacles to the growth of Uzbekistan’s securities market.
According to Srapionov, weak digital infrastructure remains one of the main barriers to increased securities trading activity in the country. He also pointed out a lack of modern financial instruments, which could otherwise attract younger investors to the market.
«There are still concerns about fraud risks,» he added, explaining why many entrepreneurs remain reluctant to invest in bonds or participate in stock trading.
The conference program includes four focused sessions:
- How to Enter the Stock Market and Attract Investors
- Where Investor Focus Is Shifting in Uzbekistan
- Uzbekistan’s Bond Market: New Investment Tools
- Where the Money Works
Speakers include senior representatives from the National Agency for Prospective Projects, Tashkent Republican Stock Exchange and Barclays Bank UK. The event is supported by TVS Bank, Payme, the National Association of Investment Institutions and Universal Bank.
