President Shavkat Mirziyoyev begins a state visit to Azerbaijan with key meetings and joint projects.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has begun a state visit to Azerbaijan aimed at deepening bilateral relations, the president’s press secretary reports.

During the trip, he will visit the cities of Baku, Khankendi, Shusha and Aghdam.

On the first day, the two presidents will hold the second meeting of the High Intergovernmental Council. They will also lay the foundation stone for Uzbekistan Park and open a new Uzbek embassy in Baku.

On the second day, Presidents Mirziyoyev and Ilham Aliyev will travel to the Karabakh region. There, they will visit a joint textile factory in Khankendi and the historic Imaret complex in Aghdam.

In preparation for the visit, both sides developed a substantial package of industrial cooperation agreements. The comprehensive programme reflects the exceptionally strong ties between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.

In 2024, the two countries officially raised their relationship to the level of strategic alliance. This visit continues the momentum built during earlier high-level meetings between the two leaders.

Kursiv also reports that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed the law ratifying the Treaty on Allied Relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.
