On June 30, a delegation from Uzbekistan led by Minister of Transport Ilkhom Makhkamov visited Kyrgyzstan’s Jalal-Abad region to inspect progress on the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway project.

During the visit, the delegation reviewed construction work at the Fergana and Kosh-Dobo tunnels. Each tunnel stretches over 12 kilometres and represents a major feat of engineering in the region’s mountainous terrain.
The delegation also examined plans and the construction site for a new railway station to be built in place of the existing Makmal station, as well as the proposed site for the future Jalal-Abad railway station.
June 30 marked the official launch of full-scale construction across the entire route of the international railway, which is one of the region’s most technically challenging infrastructure projects. Around 40% of the railway will traverse tunnels and bridges, highlighting the scale and complexity of the initiative.
Minister Makhkamov also held discussions with Kyrgyz Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications A. Turgunbaev, Deputy Director General of the national company Kyrgyz Temir Jolu N. Arapbaev, Director General of the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan Railway Company Zhong Shenggui. The talks focused on the ongoing construction process and involved an exchange of views on various operational matters.
Kursiv also reports that seasonal bus routes have been launched on the Tashkent – Cholpon-Ata (Issyk-Kul) line.
