Starting July 1, entrepreneurs and private employment agencies in Uzbekistan can receive subsidies for hiring individuals with Category I and II disabilities. The resolution was signed by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Business owners will qualify for financial support if the person with a disability has been employed for at least three months. During this period, the employee must be paid no less than twice the minimum wage.

The program also includes subsidies for workplace adaptation. In such cases, businesses can receive up to 50 mln UZS for providing services such as sign language interpretation, psychological support, or a personal assistant for employees with disabilities.

Subsidy amounts include:

  • 3 mln UZS/month (eight base calculation units) for a sign language interpreter,
  • 3.75 mln UZS/month (ten BCUs) for psychological support,
  • 1.875 mln UZS/month (five BCUs) for a personal assistant.

Applications for subsidies can be submitted through the Unified National Social Protection System or the my.gov.uz portal. A special electronic registry will also be created to track the employment of people with disabilities.

Kursiv Uzbekistan also reports that transport companies will be reimbursed for equipment serving passengers with disabilities.
