Kazakhstan Tops Day Three Wins at Astana 2025 Boxing Cup

Uzbekistan sees two boxers advance, while Kazakhstan secures eight wins. Day four of the cup approaches as both countries prepare.

Day three of the World Boxing Cup: Kazakhstan – Astana 2025 concluded with 44 bouts held across two sessions, World Boxing reports.

Kazakhstan led the day with eight victories, followed by India with six and Brazil with five.

Fourteen quarter final matches took place, as the tournament advanced to its most intense stages.

In standout performances, Finland’s Pihla Kaivo-Oja claimed victory by RSC in the women’s 51kg bout. In the women’s 65kg, USA’s Morelle McCane also secured an RSC win, continuing her strong run.

Uzbekistan saw three women compete, with two advancing to the next stage of the tournament:

  • Sabina Bobokulova defeated Italy’s Martina Vassallo 5:0 in the 51kg weight class.
  • Navbakhor Hamidova also won her match 5:0 against Norway’s Angelsen Madeleine in the 65kg division.
  • Farzona Fozilova, competing at 48kg, lost to Kazakhstan’s Nazym Kyzaibay by unanimous decision.

On day four, Uzbekistan’s Feruza Kazakova will face Hsiao-Wen Huang from Chinese Taipei in the 54kg class.

Day four will see 36 quarter final bouts across two sessions at 14:00 and 19:00 (UTC+5).

Kazakhstan will once again be in focus with several key bouts involving home fighters:

  • Natalya Bogdanova will face Brazil’s Barbara Maria dos Santos in the women’s 70kg
  • World champion Nurbek Oralbay will meet India’s Lakshya Chahar in the men’s 80kg
  • Aidanа Zabynbekova will challenge USA’s Alyssa Mendoza in the women’s 57kg

Also in action are Mahmud Sabyrkhan, Sabyrzhan Akkalykov and Aybek Oralbay against international opponents.

The World Boxing Cup in Astana continues until July 6, showcasing top-level Olympic-style boxing from across the globe.

Kursiv also reports that the opening day of the WBC featured 33 bouts, with Kazakhstan picking up four wins on home soil.
