Uzbekistan to Build Cultural Park in Baku as Part of $80 mln Project

Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan launch a major cultural park in Baku celebrating Uzbek heritage and tourism, as part of the president’s state visit.

As part of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s state visit to Azerbaijan, a ceremony was held in Baku to lay the foundation for the Uzbekistan Park, the president’s press service reports.

The park will be located in the modern and fast-developing White City (Ag Sheher) district of the capital. Spanning 4.5 hectares, the $80 mln project will highlight Uzbekistan’s rich culture and architecture.

The park will include reconstructions of landmarks from Bukhara, Samarkand and Khiva alongside landscaped paths and green spaces. Buildings will feature traditional Uzbek design elements such as domes, mosaics and carved ornamentation.

There will also be craft workshops and stalls offering silk, carpets and jewellery. A food court will serve Uzbek national cuisine, and the park will include a boutique hotel with themed decor. At the heart of the complex will be a beach area with imported golden sand.

The park will also feature modern entertainment attractions:

  • An aquarium
  • A flying theatre
  • A wax museum
  • A shopping alley
  • An indoor family park
  • A cinema, amphitheatre, tower and small zoo

The park is expected to welcome up to 800 thousand visitors per year.

Construction will begin once all permits are received and is planned to take two years.

Sea Breeze Resort Visit Wraps Day One

To conclude the first day of the visit, President Mirziyoyev visited the Sea Breeze resort on the Caspian coast. He was accompanied by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for a presentation of the tourism complex.

The project spans 500 hectares and includes a 6.5-kilometre beach, hotels and residential units. Around 700 thousand trees and shrubs have been planted across 150 hectares of landscaped parks.

Described as the «Caspian Riviera,» the complex reflects Azerbaijan’s ambitions in global tourism.

The Uzbekistan Park project was presented by entrepreneur Jahongir Artikhodjaev with input from top Uzbek architects and the Australian company Sanderson Group.

Kursiv also reports that During his state visit to Azerbaijan, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in the official opening of Uzbekistan’s new embassy building in Baku.
