O’ztemiryo’lkonteyner, a subsidiary of Uzbekistan Railways (O’zbekiston Temir Yo’llari), held high-level negotiations with leading Asian logistics operators to promote the development of a multimodal transport corridor linking China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan. The talks took place on the sidelines of the Investment and Trade Fair in Lanzhou, China, the company’s press service reports.
The four-party meeting brought together representatives from Gansu International Logistics Group, the Afghan diplomatic mission in China and Xinjiang Union of International Railway Logistics. Discussions focused on launching reverse container shipments from Afghanistan and Uzbekistan to China, expanding the corridor’s capacity and developing logistics infrastructure across Central Asia — including the construction of new terminals in Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
A separate bilateral meeting was also held between Uztemiryulcontainer and Gansu International Logistics Group. The Uzbek delegation toured the Lanzhou International Land Port, inspecting container and bulk terminals, car handling zones and a refrigerated container hub. The visit also provided an opportunity to explore Gansu’s digital logistics management solutions.
As a result of the negotiations, the sides announced a pilot container route connecting China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and onward to Tajikistan or Turkmenistan. The first shipment is planned for the third quarter of 2025.
The parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in multimodal freight transport and expressed readiness to increase container volumes along the Eurasian corridor by at least 1.5 times by 2030.
Kursiv also reports that Uzbekistan plans to launch its own ferry operations in the Caspian Sea to accelerate external trade shipments.
