Chelsea’s summer continues to gain momentum, both on and off the pitch. Fresh from their Club World Cup triumph, Enzo Maresca’s side is not slowing down in the transfer market, as reported by Football FunCast. After securing rising talents like Jamie Gittens, Joao Pedro and Liam Delap, and making a notable profit from Noni Madueke’s sale, the Blues are now eyeing a marquee signing to bolster their attacking options.

While reports earlier this week linked Chelsea with a move for Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze, the focus now appears to have shifted. According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers has emerged as Chelsea’s top transfer target for the remainder of the summer window.

Despite Villa viewing the 21-year-old winger as «untouchable», The Sun reports the Midlands club value Rogers at around £80m—a figure Chelsea may be willing to meet.

Rogers enjoyed a breakout campaign last season, contributing eight goals and 11 assists in the Premier League. That’s a goal involvement every 1.94 games, better than Eze’s eight goals and eight assists in 34 matches.

Beyond the numbers, Rogers also brings greater versatility. While Eze typically plays as a No.10 or off the left, Rogers has been effective across multiple attacking positions, including both wings and even as a forward. At just 21 years old, he also fits Chelsea’s strategy of investing in young talents who can develop alongside the likes of Cole Palmer.

Eze remains a high-quality option, but in terms of productivity, flexibility, and long-term potential, Rogers may prove to be the smarter investment.

Kursiv Uzbelistan also reports that after lifting the Club World Cup with a dominant win over PSG, Chelsea are shifting focus to their summer clear-out.
