Preparations are underway for the 2029 Club World Cup, with Qatar emerging as a potential host nation, according to ESPN. While no official decision has been made, FIFA is reportedly evaluating its options following the financial success of the tournament’s latest edition, as reported by PS Parisfans.
Discussions also surfaced around holding the Club World Cup every two years instead of four, a proposal supported by clubs like Real Madrid aiming to boost revenue. However, FIFA is said to view this as unrealistic due to scheduling challenges and concerns over player welfare.
Sources claim these conversations took place informally during the recent tournament in the United States, but no formal requests have yet been submitted.
If selected, Qatar would face logistical challenges, particularly around timing, as the tournament would need to be held in December due to extreme summer heat. The country, however, has proven its capability, having hosted the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
A final decision on the 2029 host is expected in the coming months.
