Naryn River to Become New Tourist Hub in Namangan Region

The banks of the Naryn River and surrounding major canals in Namangan region are set to be transformed into a large-scale modern tourism zone, according to regional authorities.
This initiative follows President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s directive to expand the tourism sector by developing new destinations rooted in the country’s natural and historical landmarks. In line with this, Namangan regional governor Shavkatjon Abdurazzakov visited the Naryn Hydropower Cascade today to review several ongoing and planned projects.
One such project involves developing a 20-hectare riverside site in Uychi district, where a new tourist park and residential buildings are planned. Along the Naryn River near the Buston mahalla, a multi-functional tourism site will be created, complete with a sports ground, leisure zones, swimming pool and camping area.
During discussions with local entrepreneurs, Governor Abdurazzakov offered additional suggestions and stressed the importance of swift implementation.
The area has exceptional potential due to its natural beauty, clear waters and the presence of five major canals within 12 km of Uchkurgon district. Officials say this creates ample opportunity for all forms of tourism.
The governor also inspected a mega-project to be launched on a 30-hectare site. This development will include an aquapark, capsule-style guest houses, interactive attractions, a flower garden, amphitheatre, wellness trails, restaurants and a riverside promenade with bridges. Over 450 new jobs are expected to be created.
Kursiv also reports that from January to May 2024, Uzbekistan welcomed 4.2 mln international tourists.
