Ukrainian Ambassador Mykola Doroshenko Concludes Mission in Uzbekistan

Ukrainian Ambassador Mykola Doroshenko has announced the conclusion of his diplomatic mission in Uzbekistan following a rotation within Ukraine’s diplomatic corps, as approved by President Volodymyr Zelensky.
In a farewell message, Doroshenko called his appointment «the highest expression of trust» from his country’s leadership and said he had given his utmost to strengthen ties between Ukraine and Uzbekistan. «With deep motivation and all the energy I could muster, I worked to promote comprehensive cooperation between our two nations,» he said.
Reflecting on the difficult circumstances under which he served, Doroshenko noted that his tenure as ambassador coincided with a period of war. «Eleven years ago, my country was treacherously attacked without a declaration of war by those who for decades called themselves our brothers,» he said, referring to Russia’s invasion. «They proved to be not brothers but Cains.»
The ambassador said one of his main duties had been to ensure the Uzbek public understood the current realities of Ukraine, including why so many of its citizens had lost their lives. «It was my obligation to speak this truth, to help sow seeds of understanding,» he said. «At the very least, I know that one seed has taken root — my own.»
He thanked all those who had supported Ukraine during his time in Tashkent, offering special gratitude to his wife Natalia Doroshenko for her unwavering support.
Concluding his message, Doroshenko expressed hope for the future and pride in his work. «I leave it to others to judge my performance, but I know I have nothing to be ashamed of,» he said. «I had the honour to represent and defend the interests of my state in its darkest hour.»
