Uzbekistan’s car manufacturing sector continued its steady growth in the first half of 2025, producing a total of 185,600 passenger vehicles, according to the national statistics agency. This marks a 4.6% increase compared to the same period last year.

Cobalt remained the most-produced model, with 73,100 units assembled from January to June — up 0.2% year on year. In second place was the Damas microvan, with 46,000 vehicles manufactured, representing a strong 18.1% increase over the first half of 2024.

Tracker models also maintained popularity, with 22,800 units produced in six months. The Onix and Kia brands rounded out the top five.

Chery production saw a decline, while the Haval brand experienced a sharp rise — increasing 6.5 times to reach 3,500 vehicles. Meanwhile, BYD assembly reached 7,000 units in the same period.

The truck segment also saw growth, with nearly 2,000 units assembled — up 29.1% compared to last year. Production of specialised passenger vehicles rose significantly as well, reaching 23,400 units, an 82.4% year-on-year increase.

Kursiv also reports that from September this year, Uzbekistan will begin a full phase-out of AI-80 petrol.
