Uzbekistan Airports, the national airport operator, has concluded the first six months of 2025 with marked growth across all key metrics. The company reported a 10% year-on-year increase in passenger traffic, with 7,059,084 travellers handled at the country’s international airports. This included 5.8 mln international passengers and 1.25 mln domestic travellers.

Flight activity also rose significantly. In total, 59,960 flights were serviced from January to June, reflecting a 12% rise compared to the same period in 2024. Of these, 42,407 were international flights while 17,553 were domestic routes.

According to Uzbekistan Airports, this growth was fuelled by the expansion of the route network, improved service quality and the arrival of new carriers. «We are seeing sustained interest in Uzbekistan as both a tourist destination and a transit hub,» the company noted. «The increase in passenger numbers and flight frequency reflects growing trust in our airports and services.»

Tashkent Airport Remains the Nation’s Busiest Hub

Tashkent International Airport, the largest in Uzbekistan, handled 4,587,253 passengers during the first half of 2025. Of these, 3.97 mln travelled internationally, while 620,663 took domestic flights. The airport recorded a total of 37,526 flights, an 18% increase over the same period last year, further cementing its status as the country’s key air gateway.

Cargo and mail volumes across Uzbekistan’s airports remained stable, with 38,863 tonnes processed between January and June. Meanwhile, the number of airlines operating in and out of the country has grown to 60, including 7 domestic carriers and 12 seasonal charter operators.

Kursiv also reports that Uzbekistan and Russia have agreed to expand their air travel ties, authorising more than 1,000 regular weekly flights between the two countries.
