Uzbekistan’s Andijan Region Targets $3.1 Bn in Investments

Andijan region is moving ahead with ambitious reforms aimed at transforming its economic landscape and improving quality of life for residents.
As part of this year’s development targets, authorities plan to attract $3.1 bn in investments, reach $1.5 bn in export revenue, create 305,000 jobs and lift over 32,000 families out of poverty.
Since the beginning of the year, Andijan has launched new industrial facilities with a combined value of $1 bn. In addition, 344 trade and service centres have opened across the region, supporting business growth and community access. Projects worth $2.5 bn are now underway, and in the first six months alone, $850 mln in investments were secured, while exports reached $465 mln.
Strategic Reforms and Innovation-Led Growth
The President’s visit to the region in April served as a catalyst for renewed reform efforts. In response, a regional reform headquarters was established with input from academics and active entrepreneurs. This team developed new proposals aimed at bolstering both economic expansion and the delivery of social services.
One of the flagship initiatives includes the development of an innovative medical clinic featuring robotic technologies sourced from Germany, Turkey and Japan. The project will be backed by $40 mln in investment. Efforts are also underway, in coordination with Uzbekistan’s foreign diplomatic missions, to attract €20 mln from Italy for an agricultural cluster and €25 mln from Germany for a modern agro-logistics hub.
In addition, more than 30 new proposals have been put forward to develop tourism zones in the city of Khanabad, as well as in the Khojaabad and Bulakbashi districts.
The region has compiled a supplementary project portfolio totalling $1.1 bn. These projects are expected to generate 22,000 new jobs and increase annual exports by $200 mln. Together, the initiatives form a key part of Andijan’s long-term strategy to foster inclusive growth, attract foreign capital and build a resilient local economy.
Kursiv also reports that construction officially began on a waste-to-energy plant in Khodjaabad district of Andijan region.
