Hot, Dry Weather Continues Across Uzbekistan

Another dry and hot day is expected across Uzbekistan today, with no rainfall anticipated in most regions. Winds will blow at speeds of 7 to 12 metres per second, with gusts reaching 13 to 18 m/s in some areas, accompanied by blowing dust. Daytime temperatures will range from 32 to 37°C.
In the capital, Tashkent, conditions will also remain dry. Winds are forecast at 5 to 10 m/s, with daytime temperatures between 34 and 36°C.
However, in the mountainous regions, certain areas may experience brief showers and thunderstorms. Flash floods and mudslides are possible in the foothill and mountain zones of Tashkent, Andijan, Namangan and Fergana regions. Winds in these areas will be similar, 7 to 12 m/s, with some gusts increasing to 13 to 18 m/s. Temperatures will be cooler in the highlands, ranging from 24 to 29°C.
As of 9:00 AM on July 30, automated air monitoring stations in Tashkent recorded the following pollutant levels:
- PM10 (coarse particulate matter): 89.12 µg/m³, well below the permissible limit of 500 µg/m³
- PM2.5 (fine particulate matter): 27.22 µg/m³, under the threshold of 35 µg/m³
- Carbon monoxide (CO), commonly linked to vehicle emissions and industrial activity: 0.39 mg/m³, within the safe limit of 5 mg/m³
These measurements were assessed according to the revised sanitary rules and norms (SanPiN 0053-23), updated on 27 May 2024 to reflect stricter standards for fine particulate pollution (PM2.5). Overall, current air quality in the capital remains within safe limits.
