At the final U.S. concert of Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres tour, global football icon Lionel Messi and his wife Antonela Roccuzzo became the unexpected stars of the evening, thanks to the band’s playful kiss cam. The event took place at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens on Sunday, July 27.
As the camera turned to the couple, Coldplay’s frontman Chris Martin serenaded them from the stage.
«Well, Lio, my beautiful brother, you and your wife are looking so fine. Thanks for coming today to see our band play, the No. 1 sportsperson of all time,» he sang, paying tribute to the Argentinian legend.
Messi, 38, and Roccuzzo, 37, who have been married since 2017, attended the show with their three children. They shared a series of snapshots on Instagram capturing the night’s highlights. The post included images of the couple and their sons in the VIP area, with one close-up selfie showing the two beaming. The packed stadium gave Messi a hero’s welcome, chanting his name as soon as he was recognised.
Lionel Messi, recently, had missed Inter Miami’s recent match against FC Cincinnati due to a suspension.
Coldplay’s Kiss Cam Continues to Make Headlines
The band’s kiss cam recently drew media attention when it featured two employees from tech firm Astronomer at a concert in Massachusetts earlier this month. When CEO Andy Byron and HR executive Kristin Cabot appeared on screen at the Gillette Stadium show on July 16, their awkward attempt to hide prompted a cheeky comment from Chris Martin, who joked that they might be «having an affair.» The moment quickly went viral on TikTok.
Following the incident, both Byron and Cabot resigned from their positions at the company.
