Liverpool recorded a 3-1 win over Yokohama F. Marinos in a pre-season friendly at Nissan Stadium in Japan. The Premier League side came from behind to take control in the second half following a goalless first period.

Uenaka Opens the Scoring for Yokohama

After a first half without goals, Yokohama took the lead in the 57th minute. A sequence on the left wing ended with Asahi Uenaka receiving a pass from Kato before sending a low shot into the far corner from inside the area.

Liverpool Responds with Three Goals

Liverpool equalised in the 64th minute. Curtis Jones initiated an attack from midfield, finding Mohamed Salah, who returned the ball centrally for Florian Wirtz. The midfielder struck a low effort into the bottom left corner to make it 1-1.

Four minutes later, Jeremie Frimpong delivered a cross from the right side into the six-yard box, where Nyoni met the ball with a first-time finish to give Liverpool the lead.

Substitute Rio Ngumoha added a third goal in the 87th minute. Advancing down the left, he finished the move with a shot across the goalkeeper to conclude the scoring.

Key Moments and Player Changes

Liverpool made several substitutions throughout the match. Wataru Endo replaced Virgil van Dijk in the 62nd minute, also assuming the captaincy. Other changes included Darwin Núñez and Curtis Jones entering after the interval.

Yokohama also rotated their squad significantly, introducing multiple players in both halves. The home side had earlier chances through David and Yan, while Gakpo struck the post for Liverpool.

The result adds to Liverpool’s pre-season fixture list as the team continues preparations under head coach Arne Slot.
