President Mirziyoyev Marks People’s Friendship Day with Message of Unity

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has congratulated the people of Uzbekistan on People’s Friendship Day, using the occasion to pay tribute to the country’s multicultural society and reaffirm the state’s commitment to unity and inclusion.
In his address, the president acknowledged the more than 130 ethnic communities living in Uzbekistan, describing them as «a single, united family.» He extended his heartfelt congratulations and respect to citizens of all backgrounds, expressing «sincere wishes for peace and wellbeing.»
Mirziyoyev stressed that the country’s ethnic diversity, deeply rooted in its history, is gaining renewed importance in the era of New Uzbekistan.
«Our diversity is taking on new meaning, continuity and tradition in the current stage of national development,» he stated.
Ethnic Relations as a Policy Priority
The President noted that interethnic harmony remains a cornerstone of Uzbekistan’s domestic policy. He emphasised the government’s efforts to enhance the legal and institutional framework governing these relations. «State policy in this area has been fundamentally improved and strengthened,» he said.
Among the country’s most notable achievements are the active operations of 157 national cultural centres, 42 friendship societies and over 100 diaspora associations abroad. These organisations contribute to major national events, such as Navruz and Independence Day, and play an important role in building ties with other countries.
Mirziyoyev also took a moment to thank all citizens contributing to the nation’s development, regardless of their ethnic background.
«We are rightfully proud of our fellow citizens whose honest labour and patriotic values make an invaluable contribution to the socio-economic progress of our republic,» he concluded.
