The peloton of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift heads into the mountains today, with Stage 6 covering a grueling 123.7km route from Clermont-Ferrand to Ambert. The stage is packed with four categorized climbs and over 2,300 meters of elevation, making it one of the toughest tests yet.

Starting in the vibrant Place de Jaude in the heart of Clermont-Ferrand, the route rolls through the Puy-de-Dôme region before things turn serious near Courpière. Riders will tackle the Col du Béal (10.2km at 5.6%), followed quickly by the Col de Chansert (6.3km at 5.5%) and Côte de Valcivières—all within a punishing 60km stretch of volcanic terrain before reaching the finish line in Ambert.

«There will be no respite at all on the road to Ambert,» said Marion Rousse, race director of the Tour de France Femmes.

The General Classification (GC) remains tight after five stages. Kim Le Court Pienaar (AG Insurance-Soudal) holds the yellow jersey, with a total time of 15h 07m 14s, but faces close competition from Pauline Ferrand-Prévot (+18s), Demi Vollering (+23s), and Anna van der Breggen (+27s). Other top contenders include Kasia Niewiadoma, Pauliena Rooijakkers, and Marianne Vos.

Today’s mountainous terrain will likely shake up the standings as riders like Niewiadoma, known for her climbing strength, aim to gain time. Meanwhile, yesterday’s stage winner, Le Court Pienaar, will try to defend her lead against aggressive attacks from the GC field.

With two more mountain stages ahead this weekend, Stage 6 could set the tone for the decisive days to come.
