Copper imports from Uzbekistan to Israel reached $7 mln in the first half of 2025, nearly equaling the entire volume for 2024 ($8 million), according to Israeli outlet Ynet. If the current pace continues, the total value could hit $20 mln by the end of the year.
The sharp rise is linked to Turkey’s ban on exports to Israel, which has left Israeli buyers searching for alternative suppliers. Uzbekistan quickly stepped in to fill the gap.
Despite being a landlocked country, Uzbekistan established a new logistics corridor, trucking copper through Georgia, where it is shipped by sea to Israel’s Port of Ashdod.
Alex Averbukh, marketing manager at Ashra, Israel’s state-owned export risk insurance agency, called Uzbekistan’s quick response «a lifesaver.»
The development highlights Uzbekistan’s growing role in regional supply chains.
Kursiv Uzbekistan also reports that the country has also tripled its exports of high-tech goods since 2017.
