Uzbekistan Boxing Federation: Banned Substances Found in Mullajonov’s Test May Be Linked to Hair Transplant

The Uzbekistan Boxing Federation has responded to social media reports alleging that boxer Lazizbek Mullajonov tested positive for doping and may be stripped of his Olympic gold medal from the Paris Games.
In an official statement, the federation dismissed the rumors as unfounded, emphasizing that Mullajonov has consistently complied with anti-doping regulations. According to the statement, all of his previous tests had been clean.
However, in June, Mullajonov underwent routine testing, and the International Testing Agency (ITA) reportedly detected prohibited substances in his sample.
The federation explained that following the Olympics, Mullajonov had undergone a hair transplant procedure at a private clinic in Fergana. During recovery, he was prescribed medication that may have contained banned substances. Both the athlete and the federation have submitted full documentation to the ITA and are currently awaiting a final decision.
Officials emphasized that the situation does not affect Mullajonov’s Olympic result at this stage.
