President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu clashed during a private phone call on 28 July over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, according to NBC News.

The dispute followed Netanyahu’s public statement denying that starvation exists in Gaza. Trump, citing evidence shown by his staff, insisted he had seen images of «real starvation» among children and rejected claims that the situation was fabricated by Hamas.

Reports describe the conversation as a tense, largely one-sided exchange with Trump «doing most of the talking.» Netanyahu’s office dismissed accounts of a «shouting match» as «total fake news,» while the White House declined to comment on private discussions.

The call came amid U.S. concerns over the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, a joint U.S.-Israeli relief effort criticised for limited reach and boycotted by the U.N. The dispute prompted Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, to travel to the region to coordinate aid efforts.

According to the U.N., more than 1,000 Palestinians have been killed since May while attempting to access food at distribution sites in Gaza.
