Chelsea’s summer transfer window has been largely positive, but the future of striker Nicolas Jackson threatens to dominate headlines right up to deadline day, as reported by Chelsea News.
Jackson is keen on a move to Newcastle United, a development tied to Liverpool’s pursuit of Newcastle forward Alexander Isak. Liverpool are reported to have made a final £110 mln bid for Isak, but the Magpies are holding out for £150 mln. Despite public claims from both clubs, speculation remains that a deal could still be struck, with Isak eager to leave.
If that happens, Newcastle are expected to target Jackson as his replacement. The 24-year-old has fallen down Chelsea’s pecking order and is reportedly open to becoming first-choice striker at St James’ Park. Chelsea, aware of Newcastle’s potential desperation, are thought to be seeking a fee similar to the £52 mln they received for Noni Madueke.
Any move, however, will likely go to the wire, leaving Chelsea braced for a tense final day of the transfer window.
