In London, Tottenham Hotspur’s new head coach Thomas Frank has reflected on his team’s dramatic defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup. Frank said his players had delivered almost a perfect performance against one of Europe’s strongest clubs.

«I am very proud of the players, the team, the club, the fans. I think the players gave everything playing against one of the best teams in the world, maybe the best at the moment. First 75-80 minutes were perfect. But it’s down to the smallest of margins in the penalty shootout, it’s like a flip of a coin.»

Frank highlighted Tottenham’s tactical flexibility and praised the players.

«I knew we had to do something different against PSG so it was like a special operation. There’s a lot of things to be happy with. I’ll make sure the players and I are ready coming flying out on Saturday»

In a wry comment, he added:

«In medical terms, operation succeeded but the patient died.»

Tottenham will open their 2025/26 Premier League campaign at home to Burnley on August 16, marking Frank’s debut in England’s top flight as the club’s head coach.
