Joachim Löw, 65, has repeatedly said that coaching another national team would appeal to him. However, the 2014 World Cup-winning manager has now turned down an offer — one that included leading a side at the 2026 tournament, Bild reports.

According to Uzbek media and Austrian outlet oe24, Uzbekistan approached Löw to take charge of their national team. The country has qualified for the World Cup for the first time in its history and plans to make a bold impression at next year’s competition in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Uzbek Football Association, currently ranked 55th in the FIFA world rankings, made a concrete proposal to Löw, with even the Uzbek embassy in Berlin getting involved. The former Germany coach is said to have given the offer serious thought over several days. However, he ultimately declined and never met with federation officials.

The decision leaves the question open as to whether Löw will make his coaching comeback with another national team in time for the 2026 World Cup. He recently confirmed having received several other approaches and remains clear that, even at 65 and living in Freiburg, he has no plans to retire from management just yet.

Kursiv also reports that Manchester City and the Premier League have not spent £200 mln on their long-running Financial Fair Play (FFP) dispute.
