Tashkent Air Quality on August 20: PM2.5 Levels Exceed Safety Limit

Uzbekistan will experience dry weather during the day on August 20. Air quality index shows exceeding levels of PM 2.5 particles.
Winds are expected at 7–12 m/s, with stronger gusts of 13–16 m/s in the northern parts of the country where blowing dust may occur. Daytime temperatures will range between 32°C and 37°C.
In Tashkent, no rain is expected. Winds will be lighter at 3–8 m/s and temperatures are forecast to reach 34–36°C.
In the mountainous areas conditions will remain dry, with stronger winds of 9–14 m/s. Temperatures there will be slightly cooler at 25–30°C.
Air Quality in Tashkent
According to automatic air monitoring stations in Tashkent at 09:00 on August 20, 2025, the concentration of particulate matter PM10 was measured at 139.49 µg/m³. This figure is below the permissible limit of 500 µg/m³.
Levels of finer particulate matter PM2.5 stood at 47.83 µg/m³, which is 1.37 times higher than the maximum allowed level of 35 µg/m³.
Carbon monoxide (CO), largely from vehicle emissions and industrial activity, was measured at 0.48 mg/m³, well within the safety threshold of 5 mg/m³.
Pollutant concentrations are compared with the maximum permissible levels set out in sanitary regulations SanPiN 0053-23, which were updated on May 27, 2024 regarding PM2.5 content.
