On the eve of Uzbekistan’s 34th Independence Day celebrations, the first phase of a modern textile enterprise has been launched in Qoshtepa district. The factory, established by Innovative Apparel LLC in partnership with Sri Lanka, received $15 mln in direct foreign investment.

The plant will produce textile and apparel products for export to Iran, the UAE, Thailand, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia. Contracts have also been signed with international retail giants, including H&M, with the first orders already received.

At the opening ceremony, regional governor Khayrullo Bozorov congratulated attendees on Independence Day and stressed the key role of entrepreneurs in driving economic development. He noted that large-scale businesses are boosting exports, creating jobs and transforming local industries. Special thanks were extended to entrepreneur Muzaffar Razzaqov, whose initiative has been instrumental in establishing the factory.

The project has already created employment for more than 500 women, with plans to expand the workforce to 3,500 once the plant is fully operational. Collaboration with Sri Lankan specialists is expected to ensure high production standards, while exports worth $30 mln have been projected.

Speaking at the event, Razzaqov announced that along with production, training systems are being introduced. In future phases, education centres and medical facilities for staff will also be developed on site.
