miHoYo has officially announced Honkai: Nexus Anima, the newest entry in the Honkai franchise that combines creature collection with adventure and strategy elements. Recruitment for the initial trial, named the «Nexus Bond Test,» is live on the game’s official website until September 12. The test will be available on PC and iOS and will support English, Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese.

A New Honkai Adventure Built on Bonds

The story of Nexus Anima is built on the idea of «Nexus,» the unseen bonds that connect opposing forces such as Love and Hate, Light and Dark, Life and Death. These delicate ties are suddenly torn apart, scattering their remaining powers across the land as mystical beings known as Anima. Players must restore order by forming connections with these creatures, unlocking powers that reflect the concepts they embody. These abilities can then be combined to shape combat strategies and exploration across a vast overworld.

Players step into the role of a traveller who escapes captivity and begins a journey across different planes. The adventure starts in a quiet town that soon opens into uncharted realms. Along the way, they meet Anima companions with unique personalities, forging bonds that influence both battle and discovery. In Nexus Battles, these allies fight alongside the protagonist as the narrative reveals the secrets of their past.

Storytelling and Style with a Poetic Touch

Beyond its gameplay mechanics, the title continues the Honkai series’ tradition of high-quality storytelling and striking visuals while pushing the franchise into fresh creative territory.

To mark the announcement, miHoYo released a poetic message that sets the tone for the upcoming adventure:

«I long to meet you, in a charming little town.
Rounding street corners, climbing treetops, zipping through alleys.
Hiding on shelves for a secret peek, weaving between the feet of passersby, swishing my tail to the music, brushing past with a swagger.
Waves lap lazily at the shore as sunset cautiously nestles onto the rooftops. The time on the wall ticks audibly, from dawn till dusk.
Waiting for you to turn around, waiting to meet your gaze.
The moment we meet, sundered bonds will be mended anew.
The eighty-one Planes all shine for you.»

This lyrical introduction reflects the game’s focus on discovery, companionship and the restoration of broken connections, offering a glimpse into the tone and world of Honkai: Nexus Anima.

Kursiv also reports that Chinese developer HoYoverse returned to Gamescom with a massive 600m² booth in Hall 6.
