Uzbekistan Faces Hot Weather with PM2.5 Alert in Tashkent on August 29

On August 29, Uzbekistan will experience hot and dry weather conditions with no rainfall expected across the country. Winds will generally blow at 7–12 m/s but in some areas may strengthen to 13–18 m/s with dust swirling near the ground. Daytime temperatures are forecast between 34 and 39°C.

In the capital Tashkent skies will remain clear without precipitation. Winds will be milder at 3–8 m/s, while temperatures are set to range from 37 to 39°C.

Mountain regions will also stay dry. Wind speeds here will average 7–12 m/s with occasional gusts up to 13–18 m/s. Temperatures will be slightly lower, between 28 and 33°C.

Air Quality in Tashkent

Readings from automatic monitoring stations at 9:00 on August 28 showed the following:

  • PM10: 118.58 µg/m³, below the permissible limit of 500 µg/m³
  • PM2.5: 43.79 µg/m³, exceeding the safety threshold by 1.11 times (limit 35 µg/m³)
  • Carbon monoxide (CO): 0.46 mg/m³, within the safe limit of 5 mg/m³

These figures are compared with maximum permissible concentrations established under SanPiN 0053-23, which was updated on May 27, 2024 regarding PM2.5 standards. WHO daily standards for PM2.5 levels are set at 15 µg/m³.
