Tottenham have unveiled their 25-man squad for the 2025/26 Champions League league phase, with manager Thomas Frank leaving out six notable names.

Kota Takai, Radu Dragusin, Yves Bissouma, James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski and Mathys Tel have all been omitted from the squad list for Spurs’ return to Europe’s top competition.

Maddison’s exclusion comes as little surprise after the England midfielder suffered a serious knee injury during a pre-season friendly against Newcastle in August, which could keep him sidelined for the entire campaign.

New summer arrival Takai is also out with a plantar fascia problem and no set recovery date, while Dragusin and Kulusevski are also missing as they recover from knee injuries. Dragusin is expected back late next month, with Kulusevski targeting a return towards the end of November.

Bissouma, yet to feature this season, is sidelined with an unspecified muscular issue.

Tottenham secured their Champions League spot last May after lifting the Europa League trophy in Bilbao with a narrow 1-0 win over Manchester United. The victory, achieved in Ange Postecoglou’s final match in charge, ended a 17-year wait for silverware and brought the club back to the top tier of European football.

Spurs will begin their campaign on September 16 against Villarreal before taking on Bodo/Glimt, Monaco, FC Copenhagen, Paris Saint-Germain, Slavia Prague, Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt.

Kursiv also reports that Thomas Frank has reflected on his team’s dramatic defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup.
