Erling Haaland has admitted he «can’t sleep» after expressing anger at his former club Bryne FK’s decision to axe three first-team players midway through the season.

The Manchester City striker took to social media to criticise the Norwegian side, who currently sit third from bottom of the league with just five wins in 20 matches and no victories in their last seven games. If they finish in their current position, Bryne will face a relegation play-off to stay in Norway’s top flight.

Despite their struggles, the club cut ties with captain Axel Kryger, Jens Husebo and Robert Undheim. Local media also reported that a dressing room petition to remove manager Kevin Knappen had failed.

Haaland, who began his youth career at Bryne in 2005 and stayed until 2017, was visibly frustrated. Posting on Snapchat at 2am, he wrote:

«Speak out, Bryne FK. What the hell is going on?» When a fan asked why he wasn’t asleep, he replied: «Yeah I should but it’s chaos in my hometown club and it p****s me off so now I can’t sleep.»

Undheim, one of the players released, later commented: «Never doubt that I love Bryne.» Kryger added:

«We chose to go our separate ways. That’s how it had to be, and both the club and I agreed on that. I wish Bryne all the best. It ended badly, but that’s how it is sometimes.»

It is not yet clear whether Haaland’s intervention will have any impact on the troubled club’s next steps.

Kursiv also reports that Tottenham have unveiled their 25-man squad for the 2025/26 Champions League league phase.
