Jim Arrington, recognised in 2015 as the world’s oldest competitive bodybuilder, continues to defy age at 93. He recently took part in the 2025 IFBB Pro League Masters World Championships, where he stood out as the oldest participant. With over seven decades of experience in bodybuilding, his dedication shows no signs of slowing.

Over the years Arrington has reshaped his diet to support his training. Once reliant on milk and beef, he later cut them out due to inflammation and switched to lighter, healthier options such as mushrooms and olive oil.

«I figured if I did that, I could continue training,» he told Men’s Health in 2023.

His routine is equally rigorous. Arrington still trains three times a week for around two hours. Mondays are dedicated to legs, Wednesdays to core, chest and back, while Fridays target shoulders and arms. He believes in adapting his approach to match his body’s changing needs.

«What works for a person at one time in their life isn’t the same at other times in their life,» he explained in an interview with Guinness World Records.

Despite his remarkable endurance, Arrington keeps a modest outlook on his physique. In a 2023 interview with Guinness World Records, he admitted to having a «very low opinion» of his body.

«I see all these fantastic physiques and I knew the only way I could make it is if I outlast everybody, and that’s exactly what I did,» he said.

His persistence has inspired many online admirers. Social media users called him a legend and praised his attitude, with one commenting, «You don’t quit because you get old but you get old when you quit.» Others described him as proof that age is just a number, applauding his health and happiness at 93.
