Taylor Swift chose not to travel to São Paulo for Travis Kelce’s first NFL game of the new season, with security costs cited as the main reason. The pop star had been widely tipped to attend, but speculation ended shortly before kickoff when her absence was confirmed.

In the run-up to the game, several local outlets even reported that Swift’s plane had touched down in Brazil, which later proved false. Fans inside the stadium, many of whom expected her to join them, were left disappointed.

According to sources quoted by UK media, the decision was practical rather than personal. Swift’s security team would have needed to arrive days in advance to check arrangements, making a brief trip to Brazil both costly and complex. Instead, the singer followed the match remotely.

Kelce, meanwhile, arrived in a tailored suit by designer KidSuper and received a warm reception from the crowd. Before kickoff he was seen greeting fellow athletes, including Odell Beckham Jr and Neymar, who attended the event.

The tight end is entering the final year of his contract, and although he has not confirmed whether he plans to retire, this season may prove decisive. His future in the NFL could depend on whether he can regain top form after last year’s dip in performance.
