Easygroup, the company behind the Easy brand founded by Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, has entered the cryptocurrency market with the launch of a new mobile app, Easybitcoin.app.

The platform allows users to buy, hold and sell bitcoin, while earning rewards on their balances. It is powered by on-chain finance provider Uphold and is currently available in the US, with a UK rollout planned later this year.

Sir Stelios said the aim was to make bitcoin investment more accessible:

«For too long, investing in bitcoin has felt like an exclusive club, out of reach for the general public. With Easybitcoin, we’re aiming to change that.»

Easygroup is offering a 1% welcome bonus on the first $5K of recurring monthly buys, alongside up to $50 in bonus rewards and interest on USD balances, paid in bitcoin.

The company’s research found that nearly half of Americans believe bitcoin is difficult to buy and trade, while 88% trust the cryptocurrency to grow in value over the next decade.

Kursiv Uzbekistan also reports that Uzbekistan’s gold and foreign exchange reserves climbed to a record $50.08 bn as of September 1.
