
The combined fortune of the 400 richest Americans has reached an unprecedented $6.6 trln, with their wealth rising by $1.2 trln in the past 12 months, according to Forbes.
Musk Extends Lead
For the fourth year running, Elon Musk, founder of Tesla and SpaceX, has been named the world’s richest person with a fortune of $428 bn. He is the first individual in history to surpass $400 bn. Musk’s wealth grew by $184 bn compared to last year, helped by a 56% surge in Tesla’s share price.
Other Tech Titans
Second place went to Oracle co-founder and chairman Larry Ellison, whose wealth climbed to $276 bn after a 60% rise in Oracle shares, adding $101 bn in a year. Third was Meta co-founder Mark Zuckerberg, with $253 bn, thanks to a 42% increase in Meta’s stock.
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos ranked fourth with $241 bn, while Google co-founder Larry Page came fifth at $179 bn. Together, the 20 wealthiest Americans now control $3 trln, which is almost half the total fortunes on the list and that’s up from $2.3 trln last year.
Women on the List
Alice Walton, heir to the Walmart fortune, remains the richest woman in the United States with $106 bn. The wealthiest self-made woman is Diane Hendricks, co-founder of roofing supplier ABC Supply, whose fortune stands at $22.3 bn.
The minimum net worth needed to enter the ranking is now $3.8 bn, half a billion more than last year’s threshold.
