Serbia are set to be fined after fans used a laser pointer against England players during Wednesday’s Euro qualifier, which ended in a 5-0 win for the Three Lions.

Goals from Harry Kane, Noni Madueke, Ezri Konsa, Marc Guéhi and Marcus Rashford sealed Thomas Tuchel’s biggest victory since taking charge. Serbia’s Nikola Milenkovic was also sent off late on by French referee Clément Turpin.

The match was briefly halted when Konsa had a green laser shone in his face. BBC Radio 5 Live pundit Paul Robinson said:

«Ezri Konsa immediately stopped. You could see the flash on his shirt. He put his hands to his eyes. A clear green laser pen must have shone in his face.»

Turpin stopped play as an announcement over the tannoy urged supporters to end the behaviour. No further incidents were reported, but former FIFA referee Keith Hackett warned that Serbia’s football association could face a «serious punishment» from UEFA.
