Hokkaido Professor Presents Japanese Tourism Strategies to Uzbekistan Officials

Professor Shuji Koiso of Bunkyo Hokkaido University, Director of the Centre for Regional Development, has presented Japanese methods of tourism development in Tashkent, according to Kursiv Uzbekistan correspondent.
Koiso, who has more than 50 years of experience in regional economics and tourism, delivered a lecture as part of a seminar for Uzbekistan’s Committee of Tourism.
The event, organised in partnership with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), focused on tourism policy and regional development.
Committee staff had the opportunity to learn from the Japanese specialist, discuss modern approaches to using tourism statistics and examine successful cases of integrating tourism into regional growth strategies.
Officials noted that the knowledge gained would provide a basis for further strengthening Uzbekistan’s tourism policy.
