On September 12, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. The discussion centred on strategic partnership and broad-based cooperation between the two countries.
At the start of the call, Mirziyoyev strongly condemned recent missile strikes on Doha, describing them as unacceptable acts that undermine Qatar’s independence and sovereignty and threaten its security. He stressed that such actions violate the UN Charter and fundamental norms of international law.
The Uzbek leader reaffirmed his country’s position against the use of force in international relations and any steps that risk further escalation in the Middle East. He also wished Qatar success in hosting the emergency Arab-Islamic summit convened at its initiative.
In response, the Emir of Qatar expressed deep gratitude for Uzbekistan’s solidarity and support.
The two leaders also discussed strengthening political contacts and agreed to take coordinated measures to accelerate joint projects involving leading companies from both countries.
Kursiv also reports that the UN General Assembly in New York adopted a declaration calling for the creation of a Palestinian state. A total of 142 countries voted in favour, including Uzbekistan.
