Charlie Kirk, co-founder of Turning Point USA and a prominent conservative activist, died aged 31 after being shot during an outdoor debating event at Utah Valley University. The fatal incident occurred while Kirk was answering a question about transgender people and mass shootings. A single gunshot from a nearby building struck him in the neck. He was pronounced dead two hours later, with Donald Trump confirming the news on Truth Social.
Police later arrested 22-year-old Utah resident Tyler Robinson. According to the Associated Press, Robinson’s father identified him in images released by investigators and persuaded him to surrender, with the help of a youth pastor. FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed that Robinson was taken into custody at 10 p.m. MT on Thursday.
Following Kirk’s death, Vance posted a lengthy tribute on X, calling him a «great family man» and a «true friend».
