Vice President JD Vance has announced that he will host today’s edition of The Charlie Kirk Show in memory of the far-right political commentator who was killed last week.

In a post on X on Sunday evening, Vance said he would present the programme to «pay tribute to my friend». The broadcast will air at 12 p.m. ET on the video platform Rumble.

Charlie Kirk, co-founder of Turning Point USA and a prominent conservative activist, died aged 31 after being shot during an outdoor debating event at Utah Valley University. The fatal incident occurred while Kirk was answering a question about transgender people and mass shootings. A single gunshot from a nearby building struck him in the neck. He was pronounced dead two hours later, with Donald Trump confirming the news on Truth Social.

Police later arrested 22-year-old Utah resident Tyler Robinson. According to the Associated Press, Robinson’s father identified him in images released by investigators and persuaded him to surrender, with the help of a youth pastor. FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed that Robinson was taken into custody at 10 p.m. MT on Thursday.

Following Kirk’s death, Vance posted a lengthy tribute on X, calling him a «great family man» and a «true friend».
