Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc has opened in Japanese cinemas today, September 19, accompanied by a brand-new trailer. The preview teases more footage alongside the ending theme JANE DOE, a collaboration between Hikaru Utada and Kenshi Yonezu.

The feature is directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara, who previously helmed episodes four and ten of the Chainsaw Man TV anime and worked extensively on Black Clover. Scriptwriting duties return to Hiroshi Seko, while Kazutaka Sugiyama reprises his role as character designer at MAPPA. Supporting roles include Souta Yamazaki and Shun as sub character designers, Sota Shigetsugu as action animation director, and Shoichi as lead animator. Devil designs are being handled by Riki Matsuura together with Look Back director Kiyotaka Oshiyama.

Global Release Dates Set

After its Japanese premiere, the film will roll out internationally from September 24. Audiences in the United States will be able to watch it in cinemas and on IMAX screens starting October 24.

Chainsaw Man’s Story So Far

The original TV anime first aired in Japan in October 2022. It is currently available for streaming on Crunchyroll, which summarises the story as follows: Denji, a boy saddled with his parents’ debts, works as a Devil Hunter alongside the Chainsaw Devil Pochita. Betrayed and killed, Denji makes a desperate pact with Pochita and is reborn as the Chainsaw Man, wielder of the Devil’s heart.
