
Uzbekistan sold 17,387 gold bars with a combined weight of 380 kilogrammes in the first eight months of 2025, the Central Bank reported at a press conference.
For comparison, 14,382 bars weighing 236 kilogrammes were sold in 2024, a figure 2.5 times higher than in 2023. Since 2020, sales of gold bars in the country have grown more than sixfold.
As of September 19, the Central Bank set the following retail prices for measured gold bars:
- 5g — 7.39 mln soums ($598)
- 10g — 14.78 mln soums ($1,197)
- 20g — 29.57 mln soums ($2,394)
- 50g — 73.93 mln soums ($5,986)
- 100g — 147.86 mln soums ( $11,972.6)
Kursiv also reports that last year, worldwide gold output reached 3,661 tonnes, up 0.5% on 2023. Of this, Uzbekistan accounted for 129 tonnes, or 3.5% of the global total.
