Conor McGregor is preparing for one of the most unusual fights of his career — a UFC bout staged at the White House grounds next summer.

The Irish fighter is set to meet American contender Michael Chandler in June 2026. The event will be part of nationwide celebrations marking 250 years of U.S. independence. The announcement followed U.S. President Donald Trump’s remarks earlier this year, when he revealed plans to host the UFC on presidential property.

Trump, a longtime supporter of UFC President Dana White, said the idea was simple: «We’re bringing UFC to the White House lawn. Just imagine it — a real fight night, right here where we’ve got plenty of space.»

McGregor, who has built a record of 22 wins and six losses in professional MMA, has not stepped away from headlines outside the octagon either. Just weeks ago, he confirmed he would not pursue his interest in running for the Irish presidency, calling the decision «tough but necessary» after speaking with family. Earlier in the year, tech billionaire Elon Musk had publicly offered to support McGregor if he chose to enter politics.

If confirmed, the upcoming bout will mark the first time UFC has ever held an event at the White House — a venue better known for political debates than combat sports.
