Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Transport has announced that Tashkent will receive 200 new electric buses from the Chinese manufacturer Yutong by the end of September. Of these, 100 have already been delivered to the city’s depots.
The vehicles were supplied from the Chinese county of Khorgos and transported via Kazakhstan. The fleet renewal programme is being carried out with the backing of Uzpromstroybank and China’s Eximbank.
Tashkent has been using Yutong electric buses since 2022, when an initial batch of 20 vehicles was purchased for city routes. The latest deliveries mark a major step in the capital’s efforts to modernise its public transport and reduce emissions.
Beyond the capital, transport companies in Almalyk, Angren, Nukus and other cities are also procuring Yutong buses. According to the ministry, by early May this year, Uzbekistan’s regions had received 241 buses and more than 100 minibuses, with the largest numbers going to Fergana, Jizzakh and Samarkand.
This regional expansion has allowed the launch of over 100 new routes, significantly improving passenger services outside Tashkent.
