Tourism in Uzbekistan Surges 49% in 2025

From January to August 2025 Uzbekistan hosted 7.4 mln visitors, according to data from the National Statistics Agency. This figure is 2.4 mln higher than during the same period in 2024, marking a 49.1% increase.

Neighbouring states accounted for the bulk of arrivals. Kyrgyzstan led with 2.1 mln travellers, followed by Kazakhstan with 1.7 mln and Tajikistan with 1.6 mln. Beyond Central Asia, Uzbekistan welcomed 663,000 visitors from Russia, 304,000 from Afghanistan, 243,000 from Turkmenistan, 135,000 from China and 113,000 from Turkey.

The most common reason for travel was family visits, with 5.1 mln people arriving to see relatives. Tourism drew 1.1 mln visitors, while 837,000 travelled for business purposes.

Commercial activity brought in 287,000 travellers, while 62,000 came for medical treatment and 14,000 for education.

Kursiv also reports a sharp rise in domestic travel across Uzbekistan this autumn, with the overall number of trips increasing 2.8 times compared with last year.
