Tickets for the FIFA World Cup 2026 are now on sale, and demand is already massive. More than 4.5 mln people applied in a lottery for the first chance to buy tickets. Winners of the draw are now being notified by email.

The next World Cup will be the biggest in history, with 48 teams playing 104 matches across 16 stadiums in the United States, Canada and Mexico. FIFA President Gianni Infantino said the response shows how football «truly unites the world.»

Ticket Prices and Access

Fans can choose from four categories of seats. Prices start at $60 for group-stage matches and go up to $6,730 for the final. FIFA is also using dynamic pricing for the first time, meaning prices may change depending on demand.

There are other ways to get tickets. American Airlines loyalty members will be able to redeem miles for seats starting in mid-October. Verizon customers in the U.S. will also get free ticket offers and perks through the company’s app. Soccer legend David Beckham has partnered with Verizon to promote the campaign.

Who Has Qualified

The host nations – the U.S., Mexico and Canada – are already in. Other qualified teams include Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Uruguay, Morocco, Tunisia, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Iran, Uzbekistan, Jordan, Ecuador and Paraguay. That leaves 30 places still open.

Fans from 216 countries applied for tickets. The biggest demand came from the U.S., Mexico and Canada, followed by Germany, England, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Spain and Italy.

Travel and Security Concerns

Some overseas fans may face challenges with U.S. visas due to tighter immigration policies. Officials in several host cities worry politics could affect attendance. Former president Donald Trump has even suggested that unsafe cities could lose their hosting rights, though no changes have been announced.

U.S. cities scheduled to host include New York/New Jersey, Los Angeles, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Seattle, San Francisco Bay Area, Philadelphia, Boston, Miami, and Kansas City.

The U.S. State Department has said fan safety is the top priority and advised visitors who need visas to apply as early as possible.

Next Ticket Phases

FIFA plans more ticket rounds, including an early ticket draw at the end of October and another random draw after the final team lineup is confirmed on December 5. An official resale platform will also open later.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will run from June 11 to July 19, bringing millions of fans together in North America for what FIFA promises will be the most inclusive and exciting tournament ever.
